YHWH Qana – The Jealous God

YHWH Qana – The Jealous God

Judges 7:2  “And the LORD said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me saying ‘My own hand has saved me’”.

Does God share His glory with someone?? No and Yes. He doesn’t share His glory so that He can be replaced but shares it out of His love so that His name is magnified! We can draw instances where the children of Israel stood in awe as they witnessed Moses’s face that received a quick ‘face-lift’ from the Maker Himself! And similarly, the disciples of Jesus fell on their faces when they saw the glory upon the Son and heard the proud Father’s declaration ‘Listen to Him’.

When the above verse was shared in the sermon last week, I got reminded of an incident where God spoke to me on the same. When I was in Kochi, I was asked to lead worship one holiday season as the usual worship leaders were not in town. The moment I heard it, I was startled as I don’t even know the basics of chords or harmonies. On Saturday, as expected, I goofed up the practice session, discouraging the support team and myself. I was in tears as I went home only to find that some guests had landed. I had time only to prepare the dinner and not for the worship service next morning. Next day as I doubtfully sat for prayer, God spoke to me the above verse and comforted me. At church, as the worship started, I could feel my God taking over! And all I could see was many tearful faces and lifted hands in the congregation. Later, I received compliments saying “I could feel the anointing” for something I didn’t do. It was His work and I was nothing but an empty vessel that He happily filled! Yes, He always means when He says,

“I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Heb 13:5)
