We are the Light for the Lost – Ps Rajendra
The preacher was on election duty and remembered: the works of God in his life; how Bangalore was and what it changed to. He used to run from MG Road to Adugodi as there were no buses, lights, or proper roads. God was bringing back memories. Was asking himself: Who am i? At the age of 12 the preacher had lost his father and has come a long way since.
The preacher realized that God wants us to change the people around us, the city. He changed our life for a purpose. In Matthew 9:35-38 Jesus informs us that the harvest is plentiful but labourers are few. We are responsible as a church to change their life. The Bible says that we are the salt of the earth and light of the world. Every church wants to grow in numbers but doesn’t bother to go out to the world. If we pray earnestly, we can change the world. Time is short and we don’t know what happens next to us or the world around.
Each one us needs to ask ourself these questions:How to reach people? Who can help me that?
People are lost but we have a purpose. If we reach out to them, they will come to God. God will give means and strategies to reach them. The vision of New Life Fellowship is Grow, Go, Give. People have a need, we must fulfill their spiritual need and lead them to salvation. We got the free gift of salvation and can we give it to them?
Sometimes we feel our past is such we cannot but trust God like Abraham did and left everything behind. The preacher’s senior wanted him to go to Pune for work but he refused. People are coming to Bangalore and God has a plan…for each of us. God valued Moses to deliver His people from Pharaoh. God chose him despite his flaws. People are like sheep wherever we see…in metro, on the road. Wherever God has placed you, God will use you to bring a change in their life. He met a family with people from different states and they were surprised to hear Him praise God in Tamil which is not even his native language. God can use whatever little talent you have.
God is not looking at our bank balance and other possessions to be offered to Him but our availability for his purpose. Pastor VM Samuel spoke half-broken Kannada and came to the city to save people as God gave him the desire. We need to crush the enemy and He has already given us victory on the cross. He brought us together for a purpose and we need to trust him and depend on Him. We cannot do it on our own.
Jesus has shown what we need to do. Prayer is a tool to change our life and lives of people around. Leaders of the world today want power and once they win, you can’t see them. In contrast, Jesus being the Son of God and King of Kings came to serve. If we depend on Him, we cannot fail. The devil will try to push us down but focus on the price He paid and made us worthy. If we understand His love, we will not sit quietly. Trust His promises. This is what is missing in our lives. We need to understand that God is far more interested in our future than He is in our past which anyway He has washed clean. Ephesians 4:22-24 instructs us to put away our old ways and put on our new selves. For example, the preacher used to watch Hollywood movies everyday in his youth but has now realized reel and real life is different.
Eph 4:1 to 7 urges us to understand why we are called and to maintain unity. We are one body, one spirit. God gave us a gift and together we need to show it to the world. Are we available? In NLF HSR, the pastor’s family who comes from the farthest place (Whitefield), are the earliest to arrive. Do we have that commitment and dedication? We can spend time anywhere but God wants us to learn here and then go out to people.
People from all parts of India and the world are here. God is sending fish to the net. We don’t need to go to each place; just use the talent He has given to us to give life to the people who have lost hope. We can bring hope in their lives if we are united. In John 13:34-35 Jesus commands us to love one another so that by this all people will know that we are his disciples. We need to crush the powers of darkness together. People may dislike us but we know His love and demonstrate it to the world; He will use us to glorify Him in their midst.
