Centrality of Christ in our lives
Sermon by Ps. Alwin
The preacher talked about the centrality of Christ in our lives and our expected behaviour as disciples. God is the only person we need and is actually all we really need so let us remember that this holiday season we can take a break from every other thing but not from God. The moment we go without Him/away from His word, we go to the world that dazzles us with illusions of what we can get from it but in reality, it never happens.
We reflected on Colossians 1:4-7 and then verse 13-29 in the same chapter to understand the following:
– We have to be filled with the knowledge of His will for us and then live a life worthy of Him so that we can be fruitful and fulfil His purpose for us. An attitude of prayer which is a constant dependence on God is important for achieving this. What we often do instead is doing things on our own strength and messing up and then going to God for help; that is desperation not prayer.
– God has delivered us from the dominion of darkness to the kingdom of His son through whom all things are made and held together. He is the all-in-all, the head of the church and we need to be sure of who Christ is for us. Let us read Colossians chapter 1 and ask ourselves: Where is Christ in my life? Who is He for me.
We are scared of several things such as losing our job but let us remind ourselves that it is God we are serving and we owe our allegiance to Him. He holds us together and we need not fear the world.
