Vision Begins Where Sight Ends by George Cherian
Proverbs 29:18 can help us realize the importance of having a vision without which people will perish. Vision unfolds slowly (Hab 1-3) and involves people. It is within you and can manifest when trust God and learn to listen to Him. The Bible is full of examples such as Elisha who lived in the spiritual realm, set their mind on God (Col 3:1-2), and started/continued to see visions. And if you trust in what God has shown you, He can send angel armies or give life to dead bones.
Vision unfolds when you look further to what God reveals to you which your eyes cannot see at present. God helped Abram envision the future and greatness of his coming generations by looking at the stars and grains of sand. Once you see God’s vision for your life, you don’t need to be pushed the vision leads you along the path forward like Paul who lost sight but caught the vision.
Getting distracted and losing sight of the vision can have serious consequences. Samson grew up with a vision (to protect Israel from the Philistines) but set his sight on worldly things. But even without eyes, He sees God and the vision and achieves more than He did when he had eyes. Jacob at Bethel, Joseph’s visions, and prophets are a few examples when you life is driven by a godly vision.
If you are communion with God, you too will see like Jesus who envisioned sheep lost without shepherd when He saw crowds. Learn to listen to God.. like Jeremiah, God will speak and ask you to see (Jer 1: 6-8 and Jer 1: 9-14). The Lord is asking you now, what do you see?
